Since WWII, color photography has brought to every American family bright colorful pictures of every sort. The only trouble is, the dyes used in color photography are not stable and fade within a few years. Look around at some of your pictures that have been displayed in your home for a few years. Notice how the colors seem to be kind of dull. They will get worse the longer they remain displayed. Dyes (photographic included) exposed to light are subject to serious fading. Putting them under special ultra violet glass slows this fading somewhat but for the long haul your pictures are loosing.

Pigments, by their very nature, are much more stable and will last for many generations similar to the work of the old art masters you have learned about in school.

In order to overcome the temporary nature of these dyes in your family images, you will need to consider professionally created paintings with oil pigment paints on archival canvas by Douglas Latta that are made the same way the old art masters of hundreds of years ago worked. Go to your nearest museum of fine art and you will see what we mean. Those images are still bright and beautiful even though they have been displayed for hundreds of years. A professionally created painting by Douglas Latta will last in your family for hundreds of years.
