Drawing is the foundation stone of all of the visual arts. Anyone who aspires to be a visual artist must make a lifetime enterprise of learning how to draw. When one draws, their mind is being exposed. The artist is communicating with their viewer just as a writer does, only without words.

For a person to really draw well they must see themselves as SEEING what it is that they are drawing. Once the thing is SEEN, successful drawing will follow.

Be sure to see the prize winning drawing that is in Norma's here in her pencil portfolio. This is a drawing that she did while an adult student at Central Piedmont Community College in Charlotte, North Carolina in the 1980's. It was entered into a regional juried competition held in North Carolina.
